| Ink drawings Pointed bucktail brush These images are part of an on-going project, beginning in 2009. They are a place for me to combine two artforms that usually stay separate in my work, calligraphy and life-drawing. The "subjects" are often friends who sit for me. The technique requires intense focus, similar to blind contour drawing, and attention to brush manipulation in order to prevent a fine line from becoming an inkblot. I enjoy the challenge this presents and the opportunity to capture something unexpected. |
